St Mary the Virgin, Chiddingstone

St Luke's Chiddingstone Causeway

Interregnum at St.Mary's and St.Luke's

Following the retirement of our Rector, Reverend Martin Beaumont, on 4 September 2017, the parishes of St Mary the Virgin Chiddingstone and St Luke’s Chiddingstone Causeway are now in a temporary period of being without a Priest

This period is commonly known in the Church of England as an “Interregnum”. This period can last several months, as it is used as a time both to recruit a new Priest, and to allow the Parishes a period of reflection and focus on how the Church’s Ministry in our two Parishes should develop.

The legal responsibility for the Churches during this period rests with the Church Wardens, namely Joanna Allwood and Paul Allen for St Luke`s, and Christine Bell and Bob Golds for St. Mary’s. They will be supported by the Parochial Parish Councils.

As part of the process for appointing a successor the parishes will be completing a single parishes profile, and a person specification for the future incumbent priest.

We wish to fully engage the parishes in this process and seek the views, feedback and opinions of all residents, whether regular church attendees or not.

We will use this page to keep you informed of progress and also to provide an opportunity for you to make your comments on the key documents as they develop.
