Chiddingstone life

The parishes of St Mary’s and St Luke’s are in the Diocese of Rochester in rural Kent, England, and serve the villages of Chiddingstone, Chiddingstone Causeway and Chiddingstone Hoath (collectively known as The Chiddingstones) and the hamlets of Bough Beech, Wellers Town and Charcott.

Chiddingstone is unique in that, apart from the Church and Chiddingstone Castle, the entire village is owned by the National Trust. It has been described as being " the most perfect surviving example of a Tudor village in the county".

Easy access to the local towns of Sevenoaks, Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells combined with the rail links to London and easy access to the motorway network means that, while the parishes are predominantly rural, most of our parishioners no longer work in traditional country occupations.
